At some point in their lives, the majority of people are affected by cancer, with either someone they know and love getting it, or an individual themselves developing cancer.

That is why it is important to raise awareness to try and help those who are suffering and provide them with support and someone to talk to during such difficult times. Giving to charity is a great way of helping in the fight against cancer.

Here at Woodcock Notary Public, we have tried to do our part by holding a Macmillan Coffee Morning at our office in Sheffield, and raised some money for charity.

It is still possible for you to make a donation of your own to our event, contribute to Macmillan Cancer Support, and do your part in the fight against cancer. Click the donation link to donate.

What did we do?

In the joint lounge and café area of our Sheffield office building, we prepared a table with a variety of items from Macmillan’s Coffee Morning pack, including a table cover, balloons, and some bunting.

The table was covered in both freshly baked goods made by our own staff, as well as some store bought treats, with both a money box for people to put cash in, and a QR code for people who would prefer to donate using their card details.

Freshly baked food options included cookies, chocolate buns, vanilla buns, crystallised ginger cake, lemon drizzle cake, school cake, empire biscuits and millionaire shortbread.

Just to top up what was on the table, we added some extra cookies, chocolate cornflake clusters and chocolate brownies.

People could give whatever they felt comfortable giving, choose whatever sweet treat they wanted to have, and buy a coffee to enjoy with it from the café in our office building, Scrannery.

How much did we raise?

Throughout the workday, we raised £145 in donations. Over the next two days, we received more donations, which took our total to £174.20.

We are pleased that our small event raised such an amount of money, and we want to thank everyone who joined us, had some cake, and donated to charity.

Next year, we hope to do it all over again.
