We assist individuals in obtaining an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), making it possible for them to file non-resident tax returns (1040NR) in the US.
Applying for an ITIN requires a significant amount of complex and often lengthy administrative steps. Our team can handle these issues for you, making the process easier and more convenient.
How we can help
As one of the few IRS-authorised Certifying Acceptance Agents in the UK, we guide our clients through every step of the individual tax identification number application process.
As a result of this, we can provide certified copies of ID documents and issue a W7 (officially known as a W-7 Certificate of Accuracy) to the IRS in support of applications for those eligible. This allows our clients to apply for an ITIN without needing to send original documents to the US.

FAQs
An ITIN Certified Acceptance Agent is a person who is authorised by the IRS to help taxpayers obtain an ITIN.
An ITIN is a nine-digit number issued by the IRS that assists foreign taxpayers in filing a tax return. This includes resident and non-resident aliens, their spouses, and their dependents, who can apply for an ITIN if they are not eligible for a social security number.
The main reasons for applying for an ITIN include the following:
- You need to file a US tax return
- You have engaged in business in the US, and have received US-sourced income
- You are a non-resident spouse or dependent of a US citizen or resident
- You are making a claim for a US tax refund
- You have a US Bank or Investment account
- You have sold (or intend to sell) US Real Estate
International taxpayers in the US are categorised by the IRS as “non-resident aliens”. An alien is any individual who is not a US citizen or US national.
The main reasons for applying for an ITIN include the following:
- You need to file a US tax return (e.g. Form 1040 or 1040-NR)
- If you are considered to have engaged in a trade or business in the US, and have received US-sourced income
- Also if you are a Non-Resident Spouse or Dependent of a US Citizen or Resident
The process can be summarised as follows:
- Attach your completed tax return to the Form W-7
- After the W-7 has been processed by the IRS, your return will be assigned an ITIN, and will then be processed
- If you are outside of the US, it takes 9 to 11 weeks for the IRS to notify you in writing of your ITIN
