Global citizenship applications

Global citizenship applications

Depending on which country you want to apply to gain citizenship in, you will have different requirements to meet for global citizenship applications, including different documents to submit.

Why do I need a Notary Public?

If you are in the UK and are applying for citizenship elsewhere, then you will likely find the application process to be complex and difficult. A notary, such as Nathan Woodcock here at Woodcock Notary Public, can assist you.

A notary can act as a witness to the signature of your documents, verify that your documents are authentic, or notarise certain documents so that they are accepted abroad.

A Notary Public can also assist you with getting your documents legalised. This is done by either getting an apostille from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, or by going through consular legalisation. The process depends on which country you want to get citizenship in.

You can arrange to meet our notary at one of our offices in London, Manchester, or Sheffield. Alternatively, you can meet our notary at a time and place that suits you by using our mobile notary service.

What documents might I need for global citizenship applications?

During global citizenship applications, there are many documents you may need to provide for it to be successful. For example, birth certificates, marriage certificates, driving licences, pension documents, degrees, other qualifications, and tax documents. As previously stated, we can witness, verify, or notarise your documents to help your application be accepted.

Please note, certificates from the General Registry Office (GRO) such as birth certificates, adoption certificates and marriage certificates cannot be notarised. They are automatically valid as they are official documents provided by the UK Government. You can learn more on our blog about if you can notarise copies of UK birth and marriage certificates. However, GRO certificates will still need to be legalised by getting an apostille for them from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, or by going through the process of consular legalisation.
