Cyprus visa application
Cyprus, located south west of Greece, is the third largest island in the Mediterranean. It has a rich history, as well as relaxing beaches, and picturesque scenery.
Cyprus is known as a tourist destination but there are long-term visa routes that are growing in popularity, aimed at students and retirees.
Cypriot visa routes
There are many Cyprus visa application routes open to UK nationals. Below is one of the most popular:
Student Visa
Cyprus has a well-respected education system and invests significantly in education. This, coupled with its low tuition fees, cheap accommodation, and attractive scenery, means many students are drawn to the island.
What services do we offer?
We offer notarial services to authenticate your documents. Legalisation, which is the official confirmation that a signature, seal or stamp is genuine, is often required by foreign authorities before they will accept your document for use.
We notarise and arrange legalisation of several types of official documents so you can use them in Cyprus. These include the following:
- Passports
- Birth Certificates
- Marriage Certificates
- Criminal Record Certificates
- Medical Certificates
- Financial documents
- Academic documents
Cyprus is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, so there is no need for separate or specific legislation certificates. An apostille is all you will need. Click here to find out more about apostilles.
Cyprus visa applications for International students applying to university
If you are looking to study in Cyprus, you should know that there are several documents needed in order to make a successful application. Some of these documents are listed below:
- Your passport. Minimum validity of the passport is 2 years (from the start date of the semester you are applying)
- A criminal record certificate. Usually an ACRO
- Your medical certificates. You will need five medical exams for HIV, Hepatitis B (HBsAg), Hepatitis C (HCV), Syphilis (VDRL), and a Chest X-Ray (Tuberculosis)
- Your bank statements
- Your academic qualifications
Many of the documents will require an apostille. Acquiring an apostille means getting your document authenticated by a Notary Public and then sending it to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) for an apostille certificate.
Once the certificate is issued, your documents will be ready to be used in Cyprus, allowing you to begin your studies.

Cypriot power of attorney
Power of attorneys allow someone to make decisions on behalf of someone else. They are used when the person that grants the power of attorney is not able to make the decision themselves.
Additionally, powers of attorney are often used when a family member needs help with financial decisions or transactions, for example in buying or selling property. Woodcock Notary Public can assist with powers of attorney intended for use in Cyprus.
North Cyprus
If you want to use your documents in North Cyprus, please note that the region does not accept apostilles. In this case, the documents need to be taken to the Diplomatic Mission of North Cyprus. Once there, the local authorities will be able to legalise it and ensure its authenticity.
Translation services
Documents written in a language that is not an official language of Cyprus often require a certified translation. This is so the document can be understood by the Cypriot authorities and used in an official capacity. We can arrange this, although Greek translations can be costly.
However, it is important to note that due to the Cypriot language having a different alphabet, some names are translated differently. This may mean that the name on your translated document does not match your own. The translator needs to be informed if this is the case.
