Passport certification

Why do I need to go through passport certification?

Passports might need to be notarised for several reasons, such as for using a power of attorney abroad, for proof of identity, or for several other reasons.

However, passports themselves are not always notarised. Instead, a copy can be made after the original has been inspected by the notary. The copy is then notarised. This is often done if the passport is going to have an apostille attached.

You can either have your entire passport photocopied, or just specific pages for it to be notarised. If you just have specific pages notarised, it will normally be just the pages that include your biometric information.

Why you need a Notary Public

To go through passport certification for the aforementioned reasons of proving your identity, or for other reasons, you will need a notary.

Our expert Notary Public of England and Wales, Nathan Woodcock, can notarise either the original passport, or create a copy and notarise that. We offer a convenient mobile notary service that allows you to choose the time and place for your notary appointment.

To meet our notary, you can arrange an appointment to take place at either one of our offices, or at a suitable time and place of your choosing using our mobile notary service. If you book an office appointment, it will take place in one of our offices in London, Manchester, or Sheffield.

We can also assist you with getting an apostille from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) for your passport. We offer standard and fast-track services for getting an apostille from the FCDO.

If you are going to a country that does not accept apostilles, then we can also assist you with embassy legalisation.
