Chinese notarisation services

If you are applying for a visa for business, to work, study, live, visit your family in China, or for any other reason, the Chinese authorities may require documents issued in the United Kingdom to be legalised by being given an apostille.

Documents that commonly need notarisation and legalisation include University Degree certificates, Marriage Certificates, Birth Certificates, Proof of Criminal convictions (usually an ACRO certificate) or Corporate Documents (e.g. Certificate of Incorporation).

Steps for notarisation

The procedure for Chinese notarisation needs to be completed in two steps.

First, the documents must be notarised by a Notary Public. Your documents will be stamped with the notary’s seal.

Second,  your documents will need to be sent off to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to be legalised, by being given an apostille.

Processing times for Chinese legalisation

Processing times at the FCDO includes a standard and express option. Our FCDO standard service is on a 2-3 day turnaround for any non-urgent matters. We also offer a premium same-day service for FCDO Apostille Legalisation in London. This is provided that we receive your documents before 11am on the day the process is due to take place.

As China is now a signatory of the Apostille Convention, there are no extra requirements. All you need is an apostille for your documents to be legalised for use in China.
