We assist individuals in certifying identity documents in support of the Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) application process, making it possible for them to file non-resident tax returns (1040NR) in the US.
How we can help
We can provide certified copies of ID documents and issue a Certificate of Accuracy (officially known as a W-7 Certificate of Accuracy) to the IRS in support of applications for those eligible for an ITIN. This allows our clients to apply for an ITIN without needing to send original passport or ID documents to the US.
We cannot review or provide assistance with completing the W-7 form. Applicants can review the following IRS guide: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/iw7.pdf

FAQs
An ITIN Certified Acceptance Agent is a person who is authorised by the IRS to help taxpayers obtain a W-7 Certificate of Accuracy and an ITIN.
An ITIN is a nine-digit number issued by the IRS that assists foreign taxpayers in filing a tax return. This includes resident and non-resident aliens, their spouses, and their dependents, who can apply for an ITIN if they are not eligible for a social security number.
The main reasons for applying for an ITIN include the following:
- You need to file a US tax return
- You have engaged in business in the US, and have received US-sourced income
- You are a non-resident spouse or dependent of a US citizen or resident
- You are making a claim for a US tax refund
- You have a US Bank or Investment account
- You have sold (or intend to sell) US Real Estate
International taxpayers in the US are categorised by the IRS as “non-resident aliens”. An alien is any individual who is not a US citizen or US national.
The main reasons for applying for an ITIN include the following:
- You need to file a US tax return (e.g. Form 1040 or 1040-NR)
- If you are considered to have engaged in a trade or business in the US, and have received US-sourced income
- Also if you are a Non-Resident Spouse or Dependent of a US Citizen or Resident
The process can be summarised as follows:
- Attach your completed tax return to the Form W-7. Depending on your circumstances, you may need to attach more supporting documents to the bundle.
- After the W-7 has been processed by the IRS, the applicant will be assigned an ITIN
- If you are outside the US, it takes 9 to 11 weeks for the IRS to notify you in writing of your ITIN
Once the applicant is assigned an ITIN, it will be valid for 3 years. This is conditional on the ITIN being used for at least one federal income tax return, or it will expire.
