GMC certificate

What is a GMC certificate?

The General Medical Council (GMC) has a range of certificates, such as registration certificates, certificates of good standing, proof of entry on the register certificates, and certificates proving eligibility for a doctor to be entered onto specialist or general practice registers.

How do I get a GMC certificate?

If you are a practising doctor, then you should already have a registration certificate, as well as any specialist or general practice certificates.

However, to get a certificate of good standing, you will need to request one from the GMC. To do this, you will first need a GMC account. GMC’s website has more information on how to request a certificate of good standing.

Why you need a Notary Public

Anyone who wants to use their GMC certificate in another country will need to get their certificate notarised. This is something that only a Notary Public can do.

As we are a registered Notary Public, we can help you with this.

Additionally, if you want to use your certificate overseas, you will also need to get an apostille for it, or go through embassy legalisation. We can manage both of these processes for you.

For countries that accept apostilles, we can help you get one. We do this by working closely with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). We offer a standard apostille service that should take 10 to 15 for the FCDO to give your certificate an apostille; alternatively, we have a fast-track service that takes 5 to 7 days.

While most countries accept apostilles, some do not. Instead, you will need to go through the embassy legalisation process. We will work with the embassy of the country you are going to, so your documents will be legalised for use there.

If you plan on going abroad and need your GMC certificate notarised, then get in touch with us today.
