How do you get a medical certificate approved?

The process for a medical certificate is quite simple, and relies on the steps laid out below:

  1. Print a medical certificate template. Alternatively, you may be able to get your doctor to write the certificate for you.
  2. Next, take the certificate to your doctor. Your doctor must be registered with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
  3. Have your doctor complete all the information on the certificate; if they do not have a stamp, ensure that the certificate is printed on headed paper (of the medical centre).
  4. The certificate will then be sent to the FCDO to be legalised.
  5. Then, the notary’s signature and seal needs to be authenticated by the FCDO – upon completion, an apostille will be issued, ensuring that it will be recognised by foreign jurisdictions.
  6. Have the document translated by a sworn translator.
  7. Finally, the medical certificate, along with the apostille, attached, will be translated by our Spanish translation specialist.
